Year One of the New CalenderIt was a new year according the old calender. Not that many noticed and or even cared. After the moon was destroyed by an asteroid people have had very little to celebrate. In the Amazon the mutants look north with unease at the tension between the Iron Lords and the Empire of Hood. By the Nile the people starve while the government prepares itself for battle with the Citadel to the South The Zoar settlements look to each other uneasily as their advanced sensors paint a picture of how close the remaining humans are to another war. In the far East the Japanese work hard to rebuild their shattered nation, looking with envy to the bio-domes in the North. While just off their shore the Chinese States spend the winter preparing to fight for dominance. All around the world survivors work hard to keep living while hoping that their nation will be on the top of this new world order. .... Except the Great Fleet, they have one helluva a party.

Three figures sit out in the wanning light of the new year. One, a woman of roughly twenty years apparent, fills a pair of wine glasses. The other two are men, one with grey hair and large silvery bird wings, sits in a chair most would find uncomfortable. The other, a man of African descent with a small bowler hat and blue shirt, takes one of the glasses and places it on the knees of his jeans. "Perhaps it is time to open the Citadel." Says the winged man. "Are you sure you're ready? there are dangers everywhere, perhaps I should continue to relate to the others." Says the African, his voice becoming more concerned with each word. "I believe father Talon, that Father Roderich is right. the Citadel has been closed to long, we could make a real difference if it was opened." says the young woman. The winged man gets up, walking towards the balcony as he sips wine. A large number of similarly proportioned men and women mingle about below, finishing up their daily tasks. The man calls out to the groups "After years of meditation behind closed doors, venturing out only in groups, it has been decided. We shall open the doors of our home to all who wish to enter." The Citadel of the Sun is now open.

A bunch of well-dressed people are sitting in a room, dominated by a large screen displaying various pieces of data. They stare at the screen quietly for a moment, each in their own thoughts, taking in the information. "Oh come on, you can't be serious!" A rather young woman is the first to break the silence. "I'm pretty sure they can. It's unfortunate, but true. This is how things are really going on.""But we're hardly starting to rebuild! Already this?""People never change. The question is, what do we do about it?"Muttering and arguments are heard from the room until late in the night. The following day, a few messages are sent out. To the Great Fleet: Good new year to your people. I hope it is a good one, and you do well in your travels.
There is a proposal we would wish for you to consider. Your fleet mostly stays together, but despite that fact, you do have people all over the seas and a rather good handle on all shipping that goes on, no? One of the important factors in rebuilding from the disaster is the onset of global infrastructure, and the best way to move things over long distances has always been ships.
Would you be willing to draw up an agreement to handle shipping routes, keep any pirates at bay and such for a share of the profits caused by getting to be one of the first workers at the onset of a new global economy? The first ones to the scene get the best catch, after all.
And, keep in mind, it gives you a most lucractive opportunity to further your own trade aswell. To New Athens: It is good to see that at least us in Europe have retained the common sense to realize that rebuilding this world is the great priority. However, it is terribly inefficient to have two groups in the same general area doing it separately.
Let us jumpstart trade between us over the Mediterranean and work together to expand the sphere of civilization. Having our people, scientists and all the brilliance we can produce in so many fields work together for the betterment of humankind is, in both short and long term, the best solution. To the Nile Confederacy: As was before, will the Nile again be a cradle for the new human civilization. The Mediterranean has always been the sea for trade, the spread of ideas and culture around it's borders being a good example. We should take advantage of it. We suggest a trade agreement between our nations, and perhaps further cooperation in matters important to the interests of humankind. To Chinese States: The Zoar contact a few of the most sensible ones of the powerful factions, offering to trade, sell technology and, after they have been assessed as somewhat trustworthy, sell intel on their opponents. Meanwhile we appraise which one would be the most likely to be able to become the main power in the area if helped by us. To GM: Our agents all over will begin subtly contacting the purist groups amongst the populace, organizing them into a type of cell network common in terrorist organizations today. The cells will lack ways to contact other cells without the help of our agents, though they won't know of this, and it will all be coordinated by the 'head' group in one of the Settlements which will be fully comprised of practical people working fully for Zoar and not actual purists. This should help us expand our espionage considerably as well as give us much more assets and power in certain regions.
Meanwhile, close at home, the Zoar will use their technology and economy to diplomatically convince groups of people living near their borders to join. If there are tyrants and other leaders hated by the populace, they will be assassinated and the popularity gained this way used to have them join, if there are multiple political groups vying for supremacy over an area we will pick one of the most popular ones and help them to victory in exchange for tying themselves to us. To settlements and groups farther away, we will offer trade agreements. Over time, their economy and technology will be reliant on us and once we've spread close enough, they will be easier to get to join. Short-term, it boosts our economy aswell.

At various nations, a pair of winged men in dull greeen armor carrying swords land. The bring two things. First, a sword, second, a letter. To the Great fleet How are you? as you may have guessed, we at the citadel have opened our doors. should you need supplies, head to the port, formerly of the Imperium, now it is of the Citadel. We would be happy to trade. The Zoar Settlements Please refrain from striking down the men before you, we mean only peace here. We are the Citadel of the Sun, closed to all for the past twenty years. now we have opened our doors, and would like to discuss relation with those from beyond our borders. The Iron Lords Hello from a fellow thief. My name is Talon, of the Gravemind Imperium, under the Citadel of the sun. We have many things in common. for instance, we both started at the bottom, and now run the top. Of course I'm not going to offer trade or anything like that, we have few ships, none capable of crossing the ocean, I simply wanted to say hi. P.S. Don't touch my daughter. To the non government leaders of the Chinese states Dear "rebel" leaders, My name is Emily Rodreich-Talon, and I run the orphanages of the Citadel of the Sun. I have the authority to offer you aid, in caring for your children. All the orphans of war, disease, or the elements, will be put in orphanages, on your soil, where they shall be protected and cared for. A gravemind, with a deathknight overseer, and a small group of Vultures with a bloodknight will be dispatched to each orphanage, which they will defend to the last. When the children come of age, they will be ready to join the army, as well as having been schooled in the arts, literature, and being fed, on top of it all.

In the ruins of St. Louis, the Iron Lords bring in the new year in style. Improvised fireworks and gunfire light up the night sky. Rock music blares from decrepit speakers, mixing with the sounds of gunfire, roaring motorcycles and the howls of the Iron Lords. High Lord John sits on a throne perched in some rubble over looking the festivities. A broad smile creases his tan hard lined face. This was all his, out of the ashes he made this. The other high lords might think otherwise but he was the man in charge, and these where his people. He scans the crowd looking for familiar faces. Not seeing any he leans over to a knight. "Have you seen Schmidt? Or Cornwall? It's not like them to miss the festivities." The knight shurgs, "I haven't seen them, but you know how holy men are, all tea totaling puritan types." The High Lord tries to think of the overweight jovial Schmidt as a puritan and fails, letting out a guffaw. The knight continues. "So, who's your money on in tomorrow's tournament?" Burnside's smile widens, revealing a line startlingly white teeth. "Me of course. I'm wagering pinks that I make it through the whole thing without being unseated. Wanna piece of the action?" Burnside winks at the knight. The knight smiles and shakes his head, "No thanks, I'm kinda attached to my bike." The High Lord continues beaming, and slaps the knight on the back. "Good man!" He gestures to a serving woman. "Get this man a drink!" The Iron Lords to The Empire of Hood Nathan Schmidt, The Grand Master of HIM, along with a small routine of knights Hog, make the journey from the lands of the Iron Lords to Texas.
With them they bring a few laborers and a hand full of physicians and doctors. They seem intent on building a string of HIM chapter houses inside the Empire. If turned away they'll leave without incident. The Iron Lords to the Confederate Republic of the West Coast Mathew Cornwall and a troop of Redemptionists arrive on the border. They demand that they be given the ability to travel freely throughout the Republic so that they can, "Seek out and destroy, heretics, backsliders, mutants, and satanists."
Iron Lords to the Great Fleet In the interest of free trade, we would like to offer a joint venture. New Orleans sits on the mouth of the Mississippi and as such can easily export all the agricultural goods that we can create. If your willing to go "halfsies" on the costs to restore the city and build ports, we're willing to let you use the port tariff free.
The Iron Lords to The Citidel of The Sun We don't have much of a fleet either, but it's nice to know that there are some friendlies on the other side of the pond.
How about an exhibition match as a show of our good relations? Some of my best knights against some of the the blood knights I've been hearing so much about? I'm sure we could charter a boat or two.
PS. Is your daughter going to be at the exhibition match?

To Zoar Well, it is a rather far trade route. Our knights can't fly with to much weight. however, for one thing we would be happy to set up orphanages for children in need, it is a passion of my daughters.

Great Fleet to Citidal Always happy to trade. Great Fleet to Zoar Always happy to trade. Great Fleet to Iron Lords I'm afraid we're not intrested in rebuilding a city for such a small benifit. Most trade must go on the sea which we rule, thus tariffs mean nothing to us. New Athens to Zoar Hopefully working together will help rebuild this shattered world. Nile to Zoar We would love to trade. If you can spare the food we will trade nearly anything for it. Chinese states and Zoar So far the conflict is too close to tell you would win, though the more powerful states are more then willing to buy and trade tech. To Murska A few groups of surivivors in Eruope reject any offers of joining up instead prefering to try and survive alone. These are the exception however and most are willing to join up, excepically after removing or getting a paticular leader into power. A few of the further away groups are willing to trade, but others valueing their independence choose to avoid trading with Zoar after hearing rumors of assassination.
The purists are suprisingly difficult to organize but the cells are slowly starting to come together.
Chinese States to Citidal We would never entrust our children to strangers such as you. If you wish to earn our trust then feel free to join us of the battlefield. Amazon Mutants to Confederate Republic of the West Coast We are uneasy about your neighbors pasts and would like to make a mutual defence alliance.

To GM How populated is new york? Could I start up another citael there? To the Iron Lord's Sounds like a plan. We shall create an island, we may joust there. Rodreich will send some of his knights, I'll send some of mine. Finally, yes, Emily will be there. she may want to discuss business, something about orphans, like usual. Sincerely, Lord Roderich. P.S. Talon's reply was to vulgar to post.

CRWCWe have already recieved threats from the Iron Lords, and no doubt the Empire of Hood will follow suit. We will sign a mutual defence pact, though we have little to offer in the ways of military. The CRWC head of defence, Ferdinand Kneiff responds to the Iron Lord's request. "Take your drunken idiocy elsewhere, mindless rabble. We will not tolerate your stinking presence in our land. Try your empty threats on someone else, they mean nothing to us.

To GM How would a group of Deathknights fair? Also, the Graveminds will create a island, small, like 2 miles by ten miles, in the middle of the Ocean after sailing out there on boats similarly created. The island will be made of fish bones and such, whatever happens to be dead there.

The Zoar Settlements To Nile: We have enough for our needs and then some. In exchange, weaponry would be preferred, as we have a lack of it. To Chinese: Pick the ones of the groups with leaders suited for us and offer tech trades, then. To Confederate Republic of West Coast: What with a suitable agreement with the Fleet in place, we would wish to suggest starting to trade, both in technology and in goods. After all, global infrastructure is a key step in rebuilding, and the ones first to the scene walk away with the most profit. To Hood's Empire: We happen to have quite some informants in the Iron Lords We could trade what we hear by keeping our ears open in exchange for some weapons technology... (Giving you the ability to read their messages to everyone except us in exchange for 0,5 mil and 0,5 tech? They /think/ you can't read them, so it might be more useful than you'd imagine. Also any other intel on them we gain, of course.)

Iron Lords to the Republic Cornwall has a fit when he hears the news. He and his men burn down a few outlying settlements before retreating to Iron land.
A few days later a messenger arrives with a letter from High Lord Burnside.
"I apologize for Cornwall's behavior. His actions in no way reflect the intentions of the Iron Council or any governing body. We cannot hope to compensate for loss of life, but we'd be more then willing to pay for the damages he and his men incurred."
Iron Lords to the Citadel You name the place and we'll be there.
I'm sure Schmidt and the knights of HIM would be more then happy to discuss humanitarian plans with Emily.
PS. Give Talon a hard time for me.

To the Iron Lords New york, Time square. We are beginning construction there of a new citadel. Emily will be glad to hear it. Will do, though he won't like it. OOC: My computer isn't letting me back into chat for some reason. To gm We're sending a group of deathknights by air, and graveminds by sea to being construction of a new citadel in New york city, central park. The graveminds will creat ships, and vultures and grave slaves will accompany them. To GM[
