Kingdom of SwedenTo Ireland All right, just tell me the spot and we'll send one of ours to join the talks. Cooperation is good. To Brass Barony All right, we'll get to action. You can go ahead. To GM Sweden will be sending Brass Barony the blueprints of their explosives in exchange for the technology for the brassmen.
The Swedish espionage in Denmark attempt to get agents with capability to access their naval facilities and ships.

The Brass Barony declares war on Denmark! The Brass Baron has sent out a proclamation to the nations of Europe, regarding Denmark. "To all European nations,
The Brass Barony of Estor hereby supports the right of the German majority of the duchy of Schleswig-Holstein to unite with their Teutonic brethen in the southern countries.
As the perfidious Danish Kings have been introducing royal Danish law into the the Duchy, which is illegal in the laws of the Duchy*, we cannot trust their peaceful judgment in governance over Schleswig-Holstein. Therefore, to protect the German people within the Duchy, we must declare war upon Denmark, unless they surrender the entire region.
We also support the right of the Duke of Austenbourg, long a claimant of Schleswig-Holstein, to rule over the the inhabitants thereof. To underscore our devotion to letting the various states of Germany stay free, we shall not require his vassalage to the Barony.
However, we shall send Viscount Konrad of Wettin to advise him closely. We cannot allow him to rule harshly over his subjects. Bad German governance is worse then Danish governance, for a German is expected to know our laws and customs.
In any case, Let all Germans in Schleswig-Holstein be freed from Danish perfidy!
Regards, Baron Augustine von Estor of the Barony of Estor.
Several regiments of Baronial soldiers march into the Duchy of Schleswig-Holstein, and begin taking villages, recruiting German nationalists along the way. They move towards Kiel, the capital of the Duchy, and the seat of the German Nationalists there. Enhancing the power of the Barony's troops are dozens of Brassmen, armed with the latest in weaponry that the so-called "Brass Baron" can offer. Estor to Sweden Is that enough of a grandiose declaration for the Kingdom of Sweden?
*OOC: True story. The Danes used Royal law to allow a female relative of the Danish King to assume control of Schleswig-Holstein. Quite illegal in the Duchy. The reason for the First Schleswig war.

So much business... so little product. We must consider an increase in prices, Commander Tage.
Indeed. Hmm... Company Commander Tage pushed a pawn forward. Still, we do our best.
You're off to the Syrian front I hear.
Indeed.
Well, try to have fun.
Tage snorts and stands up. Yeah, I'll do that. You better have thought out your next move when I come back.
Notes on the Swiss Companies:
Schwarz Company: Headed by Commander Jurgen Artze, the Schwarz company is both the fiercest and the smallest of the big three Swiss Companies. Recruiting from all over the Cantons their claim to fame is their independent nature. You hire them when you have a job that needs doing, period. (~ - military, but often subcontracts to specialist companies to bump up their power.)
The Forest Company: Headed by Commander Serge Gygax. Recruits come mostly from the Forest Cantons, the Forest Company is the skirmishing arm of any combined Swiss army or force that hires them. Though they do have a considerable conventional infantry and artillery complement, their light infantry, dragoons, and light cavalry make up more than a third of the company. A terror to fight in battle, the Forest Company also shines in spread out campaigns, holding large tracks of territory, insurgency, and counterinsurgency. Each unit is quite capable of handling itself alone in enemy territory. (About + military.)
The Urban Company: Headed by Henri Yoder. The elite of the elite, the Urban Company general hires out to join armies to add to their strength. Its steadfast infantry lines are the pride of the Swiss nation, and it's massed cannon fire the nightmare of any enemy. Though capable of flooding an area with bodies, they're best put to use when pointed at a block of enemies and told to go. Many a time the Urban Company has stood steadfast as the 'loyal' soldiers of their employee's rout around them. The Company will wait until the last allied unit has stopped fighting before calmly raising a white flag and, in orderly fashion, departing the field. (+ military)
The best of the rest: Many of the smaller companies simply work out smaller contracts, others make pay by hyper-specialization. For instance, the Bellfounders are an all artillery company, often hired as siege breakers. The Swiss Hussars are an all cavalry unit. The Engineers are rarely out of work, and their bridges and fortifications can be seen all over Europe, Africa, the New World, and Asia.
No news on which Company will be named the big Fourth. The smart money at this point is a loose merger between a few of the generalist Companies.

Abyssinia : At the moment, out contracts have been made and are final.
However, I can assure you that in six months we will have a company in the area of the Levant ready to hire, though you will have to beat their current employer's offer.

The East India CompanyEspionage +-
We will concede your right to put on trial merchants that break Chinese law. However, in this instance we will not tolerate the unlawful imprisonment of our traders and merchants within Canton, and must demand nothing short of their immediate release.
In the future, the opium black market is a matter of Chinese law. But at the moment, it is a matter of international law. And the Company will NOT tolerate this attack upon its sovereignty, or upon the rights of its merchants and representatives.
We will be sending diplomats to meet with your emperor upon this matter.
Ever your servant, Lord Zadkiel Moore
Your Imperial Highness,
We have the utmost respect for the imperial and most august rule of the Qing over China. We pledge that our merchants shall respect your laws, customs, and rulings within these lands.
However, we feel there has been a terrible misunderstanding. The governor of Canton, in his desire to enforce Imperial edict, has perhaps overstepped his bounds. While he is in his right to arrest opium dealers, he has gone too far. He has sealed Canton from all outside access, trapping many innocent Company merchants within the city.
We in the East India Company are traders, first and foremost. We desire for prosperity, the flow of goods, and wealth for all governments that are just, as your reign no doubt is. If you ask us not to deal in opium, we will cease to do so. However, we must ask in return that our innocent merchants, who have committed no wrongdoing against you or Heaven, be released from Canton.
As a part of the entourage that has delivered you this letter, there are also several displays of the Company's wealth, and benevolence.
Ever your humble servant, Lord Zadkiel Moore ------------------------
Along with the letter, the entourage includes numerous displays of its wealth. Tigers that have been trained to dance, musicians, acrobats, rare fabrics, spices, etc. Also included is a sword that has been overlaid with gold and gems, given to the Qing emperor as a token of the Company's esteem.
Why yes, actually. You can help. While the situation has not escalated to the level of conflict, perhaps your warships can be seen doing maneuvers not far from the Chinese coast? Nothing hostile, but just a…display, if you will. Show the Chinese what they'll be dealing with if they don't play their cards right.
The utmost regards, Lord Zadkiel Moore
Given the ongoing trade disputes in China, we feel it necessary that the Company secure more markets in the event things go South. Thusly, we would like, with the blessings of His Majesty's Parliament, to expand our many markets and shareholders to other nations of the world, both in Europe and beyond. Thusly, with foreign nations dependent on Company goods, they will likewise find it in their best interests to support the Empire's colonial endeavors.
We will be happy to help you in your colonial efforts. We apologize for the delay, the situation in China has occupied most of our attentions.
Furthermore, if you wish, we would be happy to sell you raw materials and parts for your brass men. We have a strong industrial base here in India, and the Company always helps its friends.
Remember our agreement, however.
It is in the interest of both of our nations to reign in Egypt's ambitions. We are willing to, in part, finance and provide resources for your campaigns against the Egyptians in return for the following: -Protection from piracy in the Red Sea -The guarantee that the East India Company will receive priority over other merchants in Abyssinia and the Red sea -Permission to recruit volunteers from your territories in our Sepoy foreign regiments.
It is in the interest of both of our nations to reign in Egypt's ambitions. We are willing to sell the Empire Company-made weapons and munitions, as well as supplies, war materials, etc. In return, we ask: -The Ottoman Empire giving Company merchants priority and special privileges over other foreign competitors for the next eight years. -If and when your troops occupy Suez, we would like to build a railroad from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean. This will facilitate trade through the region. We will respect the Empire's right to tax merchants using the railroad.
The Company sends diplomats and merchant ships to scout out the inhabitants of Madagascar and the surrounding islands. They are to meet with the local chieftains, rulers, kings, etc., and learn about the area's political tensions. Who doesn't like who, who wants to conquer who, the like.
They will attempt to secure the allegiance of the most powerful chieftains, in return for helping them conquer their enemies. If they can do this, the merchants will begin shipping in crude firearms, metal armor, and other goods.

Brass Barony of EstorEspionage ++-To the British East India Company We thank you for your acceptance of our agreement, and will do our upmost to fulfull our end of the bargain.
In fact, once Denmark is subjugated by the Baronial-Swedish alliance, we will send our Brassmen to turn the tide in China, if things get a bit bloody.
Would you be interested in advanced medical practices as well?
We want nothing to spoil our plans for colonization, and that requires aiding you immensely.

Scotland to Ireland Wonderful! May we expect any military support against the southerners? France to Sweden We'd be willing to secure the entrance to the Baltic, or even act against the Prussians if you can come up with a good causis beli. By the way, what's your reasoning on your involvement in the Danish metter? Austria to Sweden Very well, we'll be willing to provide training and support in any areas you need regarding the protection of legitimate rule Murska medium strength navy, mostly to control the Sound, has enough of an army to man the forts in Holstein, economy is based around taxing entrance ot the Baltic, small fish in a big pond. Anything else? Krenel England and Scotland are the only remaining states on the Isle, following the rather definite suppression of the Welsh state Nappy set up. England a rather dystopian place, with the king ruling through the generals and a rump parliament passing every tax he wants. Scotland's currently a minor princedom, with an advisory parliament and its entire economy going to funding an anti-english military. anything else? Benin Empire noted, just remember to put it in your EOT Brass Barony Noted
also the French laugh in your face and the dutch politely decline Venice noted, just put it in your EOT Parliament to BEIC They fully support, china's not really popular right now. Zexu to BEIC Your merchants will be turned over as soon as they give up their stores of opium, after that they will be allowed to leave ro stay as they wish and live as any law-abiding merchant would Falconer Getting a message to the Quing Emperor is a problem, as European traders are only allowed at Canton, which is currently sealed..yeah. Ottomans to BEIC that sounds more then reasonable SyriaWith a regiments of Swiss mercenaries arriving on site, The Egyptians have begun consolidating their hold over Syria, destroying pockets of Ottoman troops, that sort of thing. IN Constantinople meanwhile, ships full of troops and cargo form several different nations have been docking, and the Ottoman commanders seem willing to gather their strength in Turkey and strike out at Ali's forces in the fall. Regent-Marshal of France Joachim Murat has called for a diplomatic conference to discuss a settlement to the Oriental crisis. China Canton remains closed, and a large garrison has been moved into the city, to "maintain order". troop movements have also been reported in the west, although it will take a while to move any sort of force through Tibet. DenmarkUnder a three-sided attack, the Danes have begun crumbling quickly. Brass-men and mercenaries have pushed through southern Holstein fairly quickly, but a line of static defenses in Schleswig, which contain almost the entirety of the Danish army and an even larger fraction of its artillery, has stopped the German advance. Following several naval battles which caused heavy causalities on both sides, the danish navy has retired to Copenhagen. This allowed a well-prepared Swedish Navy, operating with superb intelligence, to seize almost all of the smaller islands dottign the entrance to the Baltic. France to Estor the French Embassador wants to know exactly what your aims for the war are

In Venice, the Doge is in court, in front of him stands an arab, dressed in the latest Venetian fashions. He is Jubair AlRasi. "My Doge, this is an opportunity we cannot miss. To strike a blow against the Ottomans, to gain a valuable ally in the Mediterranean. The fleets of Venice could strike a decisive blow there." On his high seat, the Doge crumples his brow. "If I am to send the fleets of the Republic, let the Republic guide my decision. Houses, what say you?" "House AlRasi supports this venture." "House Granenigo supports this venture". "House Manin does not support this venture". And so on, the list was called. As always, the final decision was the Doge's, but it did not pay to stand alone in Venice. Finally, a decision was reached. "Very well. Ready the Knights". Venice to Egypt A Masked Knight arrives in Egypt and requests an audience with Ali. If it is granted he bows. "Glorious Ali, Greetings from Venice. The Republic offers it's support, if you will accept it."
Venice to the Knights Hospitallier The Turk bears you no love. If Ali is crushed, it will only be a matter of time before they regather their strength and move into the Mediterranean. Do not sit by while your people are encircled. Join the fight, let it not be said the Hospitalliers fear battle!

Egypt to Venice Khedive Muhammad Ali Pasha welcome the Knights to his court. He accepts their support with thanks, as he has limited naval resource and no ability at all to influence events in the Ottomans Balkan heartland. Spurred on by assumed Venetian support, the republic of Greece (the southern islands, mostly) has declared war on the Ottomans for control of the Greek mainland.

Let it not be said the Republic ignores those in need when there is a profit in aiding them. Venice throws it's support behind the Greek rebels, funneling weapons and funding to the Greeks. Venetian Agents begin stirring up nationalist sentiment on the Greek mainland. Pamphlets are printed and distributed that portray Hercules striking down a turbaned Hydra. Above it are the words "Let Greeks rule in Greece". A number of Lion Knights and experienced Venetian soldiers are sent to advise and train the Greeks.

General Swiss announcement: For the next 6 months (this current turn) there are no further Swiss companies for hire beyond some specialist and police work forces, and trainers. @ European powers that rejected my earlier offer, especially France: You should mark this lesson well: we like to do less work for cheap. In general, it is also in you for you to pay us a little up front before paying much more later, see?
If you wish to remove Swiss mercenaries from the military equation in Turkey and Syria, you will have to out pay their current employers, who will have a chance to meet your terms. @ Greece: Why train under the men we trained ourselves? For a fee, we can turn a huddle mass of your green volunteers into crack regiments.
