That's fine, I would just like to point out I also put forward the Celtic empire, so yeah... Not sure which one I'm going to use, but I think the magic thing won't fly so well

Actually, I'm going with a reborn Czech state. Cheers. The Kingdom of Greater BohemiaSymbolTerritory: The lands of the current day Czech Republic, plus the western half of modern day Slovakia. History: The Hapsburgs had ruled the Bohemia hills and mountains for centuries, reducing once-glorious Prague to little more then a country town, and making the proud Bohemians/Czechs lesser citizens under the Austrians and even Hungarians. This mistreatment of the ancient culture of the Czechs lead to a long-lasting resentment of their German rulers. However, the Hapsburgs had a strong control over those lands, and it was not until Napoleon's second defeat that the people of Bohemia seized their chance. Electing a minor Czech noble named Vilem of Moravia (and more importantly his army marshal, the brilliant Jan of Prague), the Czech citizens of the Austrian Empire revolted en masse, driving the Hapsburgs out, and establishing themselves as an independent nation once more. General Jan even conquered the western half of the Austrian-controlled Slovakia with ease. Now, King Vilem sits in Prague, drawing the people of Europe to it through sponsorships of art, dance, writings, and even military inventions; if it can enrich his nation's cultural standing, the King supports it. His state is staunchly Catholic, and the Czech cardinal and chief diplomat, Viktor, stands a good chance of becoming next Pope. The leadership in Prague seems to have nothing but good days ahead for it's fledging nation, and the only thing that could possibly stop it would be jealous rivals... Strengths: Bohemia's greatest strengths are in it's backing of nearly every cultural and scientific icon in Europe; if it enriches them and their understanding, then the seeming puppet king Vilem puts government resources to back it. Where once France and Paris were the envy of Europa, now it is Bohemia and Prague. The nation is rich in it's economy, and plentiful in natural resources. It is also reasonably technologically advanced, though not quite at the cutting edge. Finally, the nations that are not Bohemia's neighbors (and thus rivals) have a good opinion of the country. Weaknesses: Bohemia has a small military; the formal revolutionary armies being disbanded. Only a small, militia-like force remains. State Espionage is weak, the court preferring to their king's... personality instead of a dagger to silence potential foes. Finally, all of Bohemia's cultural power is in a precarious state. If a rival nation usurped King Vilem's cultural policy, all of his gains would be in risk. VIPs:Vilem I (William in Czech), first of the Moravian dynasty: Simply put, King Vilem seems to be a stage actor. Over-dramatic, deep-voiced, and grandfatherly, Vilem is nonetheless an impeccably well-educated man, who enjoys all manner of debate. However, his experience in practical matters leaves much to be desired, and there are some who claim the 55-year old monarch is going senile early, and others who claim he was a charming puppet from the very beginning. Still, most of Bohemia loves their king, and will not hear a harsh word against him. General Jan of Moravia: The supposed "true hero of Bohemia", Jan is the mind behind the Siege of Prague, the force directing the conquest of West Slovakia, and the supreme leader of the Czech armies. A pious and loyal character, General Jan is a hero to all Czechs, nobles and commoners alike. However, he has recently disagreed with King Vilem on several matters, leading some to believe that Jan has his darker, disloyal side... Cardinal Viktor: Cardinal Viktor is the Archbishop in the Bohemian lands, and an early advocate of Czech independence, Viktor is a beloved church official, and frequently represents Prague's interests in the Papal Curia. He makes no secret of his desire for the Papacy, but frames it as just repayment for centuries of Austrian overlordship. Viktor is a tolerant fellow, especially towards Jews, and successfully forced the entire Czech nobility to apologize for the Prague Jew ghettos. One notes that King Vilem gladly did so, and sees interest in the Jewish mechanical golems from both Viktor and the King.

I have been doing some thinking, and I think I would get bored pretty quickly if I simply play the exact same nation twice. Would it be alright if I write up a different one? It would still include Japan, but it would only be a part of a bigger Chinese/Japanese Empire.

I'd prefer it if you didn't play china, as it's a bit hrd to balance without completely screwing you over. but something else is fine yeah.

Hm. Then I'll have to rework my idea somewhat. Would it be acceptable if my yet-to-be-named nation has taken a bit of territory from China? Not a whole lot, just a little bit.

Arcadia
Territory: Newfoundland, Labrador, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI
History: After the rebellions in 1837 lead by a mad scientist using new (and faulty) technology nearly defeated the British, they decided to reform Canada into two seperate colonies. Canada to the west and Arcadia on the coast. Arcadia would become an asylum/research faciluty. Under the admistration of the mad and with a constant influx of the unstable and the genius, a constant stream of new technology is provided to the British. They also maintain close ties with Canada and there is alot of smuggled traffic between the two.
Stengths: A complete focus on research has kept Arcadia on the leading edge of new technology
They are protected by the British Empire and have acess to their vast resources
Illegal trading of the technology has also brought in alot of money
Weakness: Having the insane in charge leads to alot of instability and poor moral
The British control all information in and out of Arcadia leading to poor espinoge. The smuggling doesn't help either
VIPs Dr. Guhan: A mad scientist specilized in steam driven technology. He has ambitions of his own to free Arcadia from british rule. Well if his machines would stop breaking .
Sir Wilis Smith: A knight of the british empire who makes sure to keep Dr. Guhan's ambitions in check and to prevent another rebellion. Is the only one who offically leaves Arcadia.

天国の帝国 (Ten no Teikoku, Heavenly Empire)Symbol/Flag: Territory: Japan, Korea, what would have been called Manchuria. History: Can you imagine the surprise of the rest of South-east Asia when Korea announced that they were to marry their Crown Princess to the Japanese Crown Prince? In either case, it was quite the chock for the other nations in that area when the two isolationist nations joined together through a very political marriage. They threw open their gates and began to trade with the world once more, and began to grow quite prosperous under their new leadership. Many other reforms were made to the new nation, newly named the Heavenly Empire, ruled by their 天王 (Ten'ou, Heavenly Emperor) and his queen, and morale spiked to an unprecedented high. China, the until recently only real superpower in Asia, began to dislike this new and progressive nation. So, they eventually declared war upon them. But this new empire had been preparing for that very thing. Which is why the war was pretty one-sided, in favor of the Heavenly Empire. They launched a lightning campaign into China, forcing the nation to sign a treaty to end the war. The terms included giving up a portion of China, and paying a pretty substantial amount of money in war reparations to the Empire. The Heavenly Empire, now more than twice as large and suddenly in control of large amount of natural resources, decided to take a more peaceful route. They kept their now veteran forces, but did not add to them. There is still a mandatory period of military training, but that is all. Instead of more militaristic focuses, the Empire began to build its economy. With the support of the people, and the slowly increasing technological level of the nation, the Heavenly Empire not only grew in financial might but became a true economical force in the world. Now they are working on improving their reputation with the rest of the world, as well as trying to catch up technologically. Strengths: Economic Superpower: Abundant resources, both agriculturally and industrial, has helped them gain a solid economic might. Public support: So far everything seems to go great for this nation. The people are thus fully behind their leaders and their decisions. Solid defensive information network: The two founding nations were both isolationist and had great defensive espionage tactics and networks. They have only improved upon it after that. Weaknesses: Weak offensive espionage: As said before, they mostly concern themselves with protecting what is theirs. Less than happy neighbors: The recent war coupled with their sudden economic growth has done nothing to help their relations with their neighbors. The rest of the world still see them as the newly expansionist nation in Asia. Only average technology: They have opened their borders, and are expressing a great interest in improving their tech, but have still much work to do. They are pulling ahead of their neighbors, but that's not saying much. VIPs: Reigen-tennou (Heavenly King/Emperor Reigen): A hardworking man who loves his people. Much of the Empire's success only happened because of him. Hwahyeop-joou (Heavenly Queen/Empress Hwahyeop): A very devoted and intelligent woman. She has been praised for her beauty, but one should never underestimate her mind. The White Mice: A pair of twin women. They go only by their nickname, and no one knows who they used to be before they showed up in the Imperial Court. They are always dressed in white, with white hair as well, which is where the nickname came from. They always seem to show up when you least expect them to. Well, there you have it. I hope there are not too many mistakes. I have also taken some liberties with the names of my emperor and empress, since they both did not technically live during this time-period but I didn't like the names of the people that did. They are based on historical people, though, to make it ever so slightly more believable.

I like it; very RL Imperial Japan-esque. ;D
So what do you guys think of my Greater Bohemia idea? Prague is mentioned in a book series I'm reading, so I may be taking a bit of inspiration from that.
