So, yeah, I was more or less bored out of my mind so I decided to listen to some music when a question popped into my mind: what kinds of music does the TW guys listen to?
Well? What kinds of music do you listen to? I'm personally very into metal, classical (especially piano) music as well as several other more or less famous genres.
I guess this thread could also be used to discuss TW music, as we all probably have more than one song we connect with TW. For instance, I listen a lot to VNV nation, Chopin and sometimes some metal to fire up my soul when I'm writing. It depends a little on the situation. So, any thoughts on that?

As far as Total War songs go there is always Handlebars. ALWAYS. Nothing quite so perfectly catches the grandiose dreams, forceful personalities and self righteousness that characterized just about every leader in the first game.
Seven Nation Army on repeat helps me write EoT's and Stairway to Heaven on repeat helps me do math homework. Back in high school I was known for humming it during tests.
I also like the Beatles, Led Zep, the Who, Floyd, and Hendrix. And most of what Pandora throws at me.
Also, Pandora is awesome.

Ah, math tests and music. I used to listen to various metal bands during the tests (at least when the teachers allowed it) and apparently I was disturbing the other students. I only learned about this after the test was over, because not a soul dared to ask me to lower the volume. Except my friend. Only, I didn't hear him. Ah, the irony.

I listen to 'good' music is my usual response to the question, since it's hard to define my genre. I prefer music with either meaningful lyrics or songs that distinguish the technical skill of the musicians without sounding either flat or robotic. And, as a bassist, I have a soft spot for good bass lines.
I like pretty much everything JJ listed, for instance, and a lot of other things.

Pretty much what you're saying, along with metal of most kinds (not death, thrash or 'screamo' metal though). Various other genres as well. Hey Sayn, what kind of metal do you like? I'd be curious to see the musical tastes of us 'metalheads'?

Hmmm... I like Alternate Rock (3 days grace, three doors down, Skillet...), 80's music (Queen, Styx, ELO...) but really anything that catches my interest. I like the epic choral music now so common in action movies.
For Total War, I always liked Headstrong by Trapt, because it seemed almost like two of our leaders yelling at each other.
Also, recently, This is War by 30 seconds to Mars I think fits.

I'd be curious to see the musical tastes of us 'metalheads'? Well, I listen to a lot of different metal, though I seem to lean more towards melodic death and metalcore. I usually need some kind of melody throughout the songs for them to be interesting for me. Also, one of my favorite bands is Machinae Supremacy, which plays a kind of power metal with some bitpop-sounds, if you get what I mean. If you're interested, here's one of their better songs:

VNV nation - Kingdom is also very suited for TW. Hell, a lot of their songs fit right in.
